Executive Director Leadership - Tiny Homes for Seniors
A family-owned business, The WellNest Company, wanted to expand their impact to install and service tiny homes for low-income U.S. Military Veterans and seniors. Mpower helped them form a nonprofit, Keystone Housing Foundation, to serve as a trusted partner to raise funds and provide 24/7 services to help residents stabilize and improve their lives. Steve McCoy-Thompson is serving as Executive Director for the nonprofit and collaborating to develop, install and service several major tiny homes projects throughout Northern California. Program Fundraising & Direction - Junior Journalist Program
Mpower designed and secured $200,000 in funding for an innovative program funded by Alameda County Health Services in California. The unique program partners with Embarcadero Media Foundation (which publishes several regional newspapers) to train and enable high school students to produce high quality articles and videos to educate youth about the dangers and resources associated with opioid use. The program will support 90 youth over the course of 1 year to reach over 70,000 people throughout the county and has already been praised by elected officials, newspapers and health agencies for both reviving local journalism and addressing the opioid crisis in the region.
